Chunghi Choo (born 1938) is a jewelry designer and metalsmith who was born in Incheon, Korea in 1938. She received a BFA degree from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, where she majored in Oriental painting. She moved to the United States in 1961 to study metalsmithing, weaving, and ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she received an MFA in 1965.
She has taught jewellery and metal arts at the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History since 1968 and is currently the F. Wendell Miller Distinguished Professor of Art.
Her works have been exhibited world wide and are found in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris; Museum fur Kunsthandwerk, Frankfurt, Germany; the Danish Museum of Art & Design, Copenhagen; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art and American Craft Museum, New York; Art Institute of Chicago; and other museums and public places. Her students are frequent winners of national and international competitions and awards.
